Reclaimed Teak is naturally rich in oils and minerals, offering exceptional resistance to moisture, rot, insects, fungal decay, and mildew, meaning the cabinet requires minimal maintenance. Surface oil may be present when the unit is delivered, which will naturally dissipate within 7–10 days as the wood acclimatises. Over time, the timber will develop a silver-grey patina characteristic of Teak, although regular treatment can help preserve its original golden hue.
Due to the British climate, occasional minor checking or cracking may occur, particularly on end grain, caused by natural expansion and contraction in response to humidity and temperature changes. These are purely cosmetic and do not compromise the unit’s strength or longevity.
