One of the standout features of reclaimed Teak is its high concentration of natural oils and minerals, which provide exceptional protection against water, rot, insect damage, and mildew. This characteristic makes the unit remarkably low-maintenance, and with proper care, your Teak kitchen will serve you well for many years to come.
As a natural material, Teak may display variations in colour, texture, and other inherent characteristics, particularly when sourced from 100% reclaimed wood. Upon delivery, your new Teak units may have a surface oil finish, which is entirely normal. Any residual oil will dissipate within seven to ten days as the wood acclimatises to its environment.
It's also worth noting that each piece of timber used in your Teak units will gradually age, developing the signature silver-grey patina that Teak is known for. To maintain the wood's original golden sheen and prevent deterioration over time, consider applying appropriate treatments. Due to the unpredictable nature of the British climate, occasional checking or cracking may occur, particularly on the end grain. These natural occurrences are a result of temperature and humidity fluctuations, especially during the summer months, and should not affect the durability or longevity of your kitchen units.
